It truly has been a while since I've posted on this blog. I think 2 years have passed. Wow, I'm such a slacker. To be fair, since I had last posted, I got laid off, was quasi homeless, took a hiatus from school, bounced back and forth between min wage jobs, finally uprooted and moved out of town, and got a nice job. I'd say I've been a little busy. However, in the mean time, I haven't written a single line of code. *sigh* I've had dreams of starting my Project: N00b project again, if only by myself, just to keep my skills sharp so I could bounce back once I could start taking classes again.
With renewed inspiration and determination, I set out to work on my project. I pull up to my laptop, crack my knuckles, and log in. First, I notice something wrong. Since I had to install a new HDD, I had no IDE or Notepad++ or anything of the sort. *sssiiiiiggggghhhhhh* Have I really slacked off that bad? Usually that's the first thing I install when I install a new OS: compilers, IDE, NP++, etc. Well, that's easily sorted out, so I just install Netbeans and NP++. I open NB with an exhilarating sense of nostalgia, start a new project, and ... fuck. I have completely forgotten Java. My baby, Java, is completely lost to me. Shedding a manly tear of sadness, I begin the hunt for my goto bible, my old Tony Gaddis textbook. Unfortunately, it's nowhere to be found. Must have gotten lost in the move. Ugggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
Okay, I have since learned C++ since I last programmed Java, as Data Structures and Algorithms in C++ was one of my last classes before I quit school. I figure it must be the new syntax. Alright, lets install that Visual Studio. I know I have the Visual Studios disk somewhere, but it too got lost in the move. Muy triste. After some aggravation with trying to log into my dusty ol' school email to get my student edition licenses and such, I finally get the ISO. BUT! For some reason my stupid disk burner would't do it. Grr. Luckily modi123_1 told me about DeamonTools. Now I finally got VS. I boot it up, start a new project (took like 10 years because I was used to 2008 and I'm now using 2012), and stare blankly at the screen. Fuck. I forgot how to Java, and now I forgot how to C++. Do I make a Main.cpp? Or is it ProjectName.cpp? Does it get a header? Fuck I can't remember! Oh. My. GOD! I wanted to cry. My favorite hobby was lost to me. Looking up some tutorials, I found one that gave the basic of the basics: creating my first file. Lel i suk.
Finally, after at least a year and a half, I've written my first program:
Build actually worked? No shit? Omg I'm sooooooooo happy. <3<3<3

You'll never understand how happy I was seeing my first program run lol.

P.S. I'm only writing this because I'm waiting for the thunderstorm to quit so I can get in the shower. I'm terrified that I'll get electrocuted if I shower during a storm.
