Battle of the giants

Yup, its official - Yahoo!'s revenues are up and shows a positive step in its fight with Google for internet supremacy. You can read more about the story here. Two things come to my mind immediately - the first is that there has been a change for the good since Mr Yang stepped in the big shoes. He clearly outlined his strategy about making Yahoo! a 'starting point' for people on the internet. And I think if anyone can get Yahoo! back on track, it would be him. After all only a technologist knows how to fight with other technologists.

The other thing that makes me even happier is that Google will now start taking Yahoo! more seriously. Monopoly is bad for the consumer and that's what I am. I'd love to see these two battle it out to give me better and better products. On a more serious note, it also means a division of power. No one corporation must hold *all* your data. Paranoid? Not really. As the old saying goes, don't put all your eggs in one basket. So here's to Yahoo! and a new era of the battle of the geeks. I wonder when MSN will catch up?
