The Last Remnant - Why Square Failed at their Demo

Let me preface this by saying the score went up.

It seems that some of the graphics got updated when they released the game. It adds a major difference to my score because now there are less colors and more features. Therefore, they get a +2. Why not a 5? Some of it is still poorly done and shows.

Score: 4/5

It's square.

Score: 5/5

You see, before, I ranted about the myriad of colorful text pop ups and the different between mystic arts and combat arts. I now know the difference thanks to the tutorial at the beginning of the game. The demo puts you past that and so you know nothing about the difference. They also explain the colorful text popups.

Score: 4/5 - Because the combat system is extremely elementary for a Square game.

Thank you Square for putting the option to switch to keyboard mappings being shown instead of controller mappings. Smart move.

Score: 5/5

Final Score: 18/20
Final Percent: 90%

Comments: Okay, Square, next time you release a demo, make sure it at least gives enough information for people to understand the game. I get dropped into the ass-end of a series of scenes and i'm staring at my screen like it just shot me. This is natural, we're human and we didn't design the game with you. In the final release version, I get dropped into the beginning of that same series of scenes and suddenly it makes MORE SENSE to me. Take this to mind: Ass-end of series of scenes and assuming the player 'knows' is bad.
