Maybe the reputation points might not mean a lot to most people here, but I don't generally post in areas outside of assisting people with problems, so this means that my points are a fairly good indicator for how many people I've actually helped, and it feels pretty good.
I think back to the first people that I helped with C# problems all those years ago. I wonder what they're doing now. Did they stick with it? Are they professionals? Do they stop to help people too? I think about the people I couldn't help, but others on the board were swift to jump in.
I like this place a lot. It's sad that the number of people has dwindled, and many have found alternate areas of assistance such as reddit or stackoverflow, but I think that if people gave this place a chance, they'd see that the desired effort they put into their questions will make them better programmers. Sure, there's a lot of gimme teh codez requests, but there are also a lot of really great posts with interesting problems.
So, to all questioners and answerers and lurkers, thanks for making DIC what it is.

.. and thank you for a being a part. If anything we made a dent in helping the world of coding in the shadows of slightly more corporate spots.

Very nice post! I could go on and on about DIC's community and the great people that are here. I would have likely turned out differently in my career and school life had I not tripped over DIC so many years ago.
