It's my second year studying Industrial Management, and I love this major so far. One of the greatest things about this semester is that, I have Operations Research; a field which uses mathematics to optimize problems in the form of mathematical models(the simplified version of real-life problems actually).
So, after a presentation I had for this class, my professor and I had a brief discussion on the software available to use in the field of Operations Research and we decided to take a shot at writing one! So I decided to work with a few of the available open-source libraries and see what I can come up with. Right now I am working on SoPlex and I managed to compile a test program after hours of trying! I had a little problem with one of the libraries not being linked which caused errors in the linking process :D
The road ahead: making myself familiar with the API and then, writing an interface program for it. This is gonna be my first GUI program, and also the first program that I actually make for others to use (my classmates at first). Lets see how it goes ^^

It's pretty fun being a programmer and a domain expert. In a lot of domains, people with both skill sets are few and far between, making it a valuable niche to me in.

I plan on studying communications and designing subterranean weapons I can put aboard satellites. Then I will develop some software to hijack and control it after it is launched. I then plan on boarding a train with several mercenaries and hold the government hostage... all while taking bids from radical extremist groups.
Oh wait... that is the plot from Under Siege 2 with Steve Segal. Ok scratch that.
