This summer, I had the distinct privilege of writing an Android application for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. It is an extremely complicated application that uses several CSV files and complicated equations to calculate radioactivity of various samples that are irradiated at the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Lab. This irradiation allows scientists to analyze complicated material and make them better and increase scientific understanding of these materials. This application is the first portable calculator that is both fast and accurate to within 10% error. It was a very enjoyable experience that combined complicated programming with even more complicated nuclear engineering, and it worked with remarkable success.
I entered this project into the prestigious Siemens Competition with a 16 page paper describing the intimate details and results of my project. After 7 revisions, I sent it off, and I could only wait until today for the results. My paper was one of the semifinalists, which means that I have a $1000 scholarship, and I have my name distinguished, but unfortunately, it means that the competition end here for me. I do not have the privilege of presenting my project in front of hundreds of people, as I would have liked, but I am proud to have this honor.
I just wanted to update you all as to what has been going on with me recently. Thanks for listening to my rant. :)

Congratulations Dogstopper, I wouldn't feel too bad about not getting to present it, you'll be able to write this outstanding achievement on your résumé/CV, and definitely open doors for you in your career

I look up to people like you making a difference, I hope to someday do things like this. That is if everyone hasn't made everything.
Would have been cool if you won the competition though
