A Childlike Wonder

Icon Leave Comment
Do you remember the days when everything was exciting, everything was a new wonder to explore? Do you remember when ideas flowed freely, unrestricted by notions of properness or sanity? As we've grown we've bought into the world saying we need to "grow up" but is that really the best thing?

The older we get the more cynical and "proper" we try and become, conforming to ideals that are all but relevant. The child in us is being starved and killed for the sake of this growing up, but what good does it do you?

The more cynical the less you're open to experiencing, the more things quickly become mundane and cause you to lose interest in them.

So what are we to do? Dream. See things through the eyes of a child, that wonder always present preventing the stagnation of life as you know it. Be like that kid in the candy shop, wide-eyed and ready to try anything new just to see what happens. Don't be afraid to experiment, try new things, be different.

Integrity and properness are constraints that you should never put upon yourself, and it's in my opinion that the inventor of these concepts gave up on hope long ago and felt a need to share his bitterness. Don't be that guy or girl.

Don't grow up to conform, stay young, stay hungry.
