Haha. 7-zip. You know, I really wonder sometimes. I mean, 7-Zip can do anything. It decompresses Disc Images, Zip files, 7z files, rar, tar, tar.gz, tar.gz.bz2, etc.. I mean really, what the hell are they using underneath the code for that!? :P

AOL is the biggest, most-malicious virus out there, but I have yet to find an antivirus that will get rid of it.

I've used:
--Norton
--AVG
--Avaast
--Kaspersky

And out of these, Norton would be the best.

I've used all that you listed but Kapersky, and I would disagree. What I don't like about Norton's is that it sets up a proxy and nothing gets through without Norton's sayso. So, imagine when one of Norton's updates royally screws the pooch and Norton's is no longer working. What happens is that you can't use your internet, period, until you uninstall Norton's. Happened to me. Cost me a whole day's troubleshooting and googling (from another pc) to figure that one out.

Wow. Sorry, but I almost completely disagree. I think it depends which Norton you use.

With what do you disagree? That it took me a whole day to fix Norton's problem, that Norton's sets your pc up as a proxy, that Norton's isn't the best, that Norton's would screw the pooch, or that I haven't used Kapersky?

No, I meant that Norton doesnt really control my computer as much as you described. Regardless, I cant still pass "illegal" activity through my computer without Norton "controlling" it.

But I agree with the "cant use the internet until norton is running". So what do you prefer?

I've been using Avast for a while and it works well as far as I can tell. I try to stay away from anything that might cause problems, but you have to venture out once in a while.

I'd say ESET's Nod32 Smart Security is a good one, I haven't had any problems with it, the only thing I have an issue with is I also use Outpost Firewall 2009, and since I loaded the firewall after my AV or vice versa (don't remember) I have to disable ESET's firewall in order to use the internet. However it is compatible and allows for use with other firewall services, I just messed up.

My ISP just came out with their own anti-virus software. I've put it on two of my computers and so far I don't have any problems with it. My mother tried to put Norton on her computer and had real problems with it and got pc-cillen <sp?> and she likes that one.

I use Avast Home Edition and consider it to be the best antivirus software.
