Wow. Sorry, but I almost completely disagree. I think it depends which Norton you use.

With what do you disagree? That it took me a whole day to fix Norton's problem, that Norton's sets your pc up as a proxy, that Norton's isn't the best, that Norton's would screw the pooch, or that I haven't used Kapersky?

I disagree with the fact that you've never used Kapersky. Don't you remember that drinking binge in Chicago? We woke up & there you were, Kapersky install meter spanning from 99% to 100%.

The shame...

& for the record, I've cleaned up a few messes that Norton has caused. I think that their ideal behind the antivirus is that if they bog the machine down enough, the end user will become so frustrated with waiting for websites to load that they simply won't use it any more. I recommend Avast to all of my customers, & anytime that it replaces Norton it almost always finds at least one or two "installers" left sitting in the temporary internet files folders.

I don't like spending money on security. So found a great solution for it.

Over the last year, I've been using only trial version of these softwares which includes KIS 2009, KAV 2009, KAV Older Versions, Avast Pro, Norton 08, Norton 09, Nod32 AV, Nod32 IS , Avira Home, Avira Pro, Bitdefender...and some more.

I found Kaspersky(IS and AV) best of these all and Norton and Avira the worst.

Nod32 and Avast Pro were Okay.

Currently, I'm running On Kaspersky IS 2009 and it's trial period will expire on by the end of this month.

With no more trial AV's left, I'll then move to Avast Home.

Is Avast Home good?

I'm not really sure about your question. I havent had any "hacks" or similar to see if it is "good" or not. If it does help, it is working perfectly.

I've used LOADS of different AV's in the past, but nortons and kaspersky are join first, both have their pro's and both have their con's

Nortons can be slow, and doesn't always load on boot (not that that matters as I run a dedi server off my Desktop)
but Nortons also has the best protection that's automated IMO, Kasperskys automated protection is OK, but i've known it to let some downloader viruses in from time to time :/

Kaspersky also has the best virus definitions and pickup abilities as far as I know, and can tell, but it's not as good at removing them as nortons, hence my overall choice is nortons have it installed on 11 computers ATM, and will shortly be renewing my subscription for 6 of those computers. . . a little costly at £120 for 6 computers but, not terrible, Kaspersky cost me nearly the same for 8 computers, and wasn't as effective

Oh I run Nortons 360 btw, not just regular Nortons, but have had nortons system works 2k3 and have run nortons 2005-2009.

NOD32 and AVG free I have found to be some of the worst AV's along with Clam, mostly because they have all missed viruses that have destroyed friends PC's things like trojan Caiijin and backdoor.irc, but yeah, IMO nortons is the best :)

Nod32 is a good one, I use it and have had no problems with it so far, and it will work with other firewalls aswell. I run OutPost Firewall 2009 and Nod32 and I haven't had any problems. Also throw in some SpyBot S&D

You're too funny no2, btw, your name reminds me of the song "The number of the Beast"
"Who are you?"
"I am no2"
"Who is no1?"
"You are no6"
"I am not a number, I am a free man"

Well, something like that.

Here's a thought, why fight it, just uninstall all security software and let your computer serve the darkside; it's inevitable. It's all coming down to one government, one world order, one operating system, one security option and free choice will be eliminated.
