Tag to show code on the page

Posted 20 April 2009 - 10:18 AM

I just realized I posted this in the programming section originally. I know I've been scatterbrained since spring break, but geez.

Anyhow... the post is:

I've seen a tag where you can show code on a webpage, but I'm blanking on it.

I am creating a how to make a website page for a final project in class. I don't want to have to code all of the greater than and less than tags individually. I know I've seen this tag before. I saw one way was just to do a textarea tag as if I were doing a form and let people scroll through that, but I've seen pages just listing the code like the rest of the text. The pre and blockquote tags aren't working for me.

Thanks,

Jrdpa

That is done through PHP, or another server side langauge, which goes through and changes all the less and than greater than characters to their code counterparts. I believe it is htmlentities().

Hope that helps.
