I Started Drawing...

Posted 17 January 2005 - 08:37 AM

So I have to take a drawing class. For as long as I've been doing design and graphics, you would think I would have been able to at least draw a bit. I havn't drawn any pictures since about the 6th grade. However, here is my first attempt at drawing myself. Remember, I have no prior drawing experience. I'd like to post this now, and show everyone my final drawing when the class is over to compare. And yes, I know that is a beyond crappy drawing, but I think it's pretty damned good for not being able to draw and being my first try ever. :P

Ok, thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. Any other comments on improving my next drawing? How is proportion of nose and stuff in revelance to the rest of the image?

The nose is okay. When you draw noses you don't really "draw" them it's more shading that makes a nose. I'm not very good at drawing people though.

draw what you see.
don't worry about how it comes out.
if you draw wha you see and are happy that what you have drawn represents what you see, feel, think, experience, and that what you want us to see.. then it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks. it's your experience.

what you phisicaly put down on paper is different strength lines.. anybody can do that.

having that line express what you want it to is the art.

don't be put off by comments or results.

practice. practice. practice.

:)
