Airport Extreme

Posted 17 January 2005 - 10:48 AM

Ok, so here is what I'm trying to do. I have a built in airport extreme card in my G5 here at work. The WIFI antenna is plugged in. My powerbook, sitting next to me now, has airport extreme and workes fine. For some reason, I'm not sure how to set up my G5 to have it be a broadcast station, so I can pick up it's internet on the powerbook. Any ideas?

It could be that the wirless card is not activated on the G5 at the driver level or that they are set up for infrastructure mode. when they should be set to adhock as there is no AP.

Now I'm starting to second guess whether this has a built in wifi. I thought it did, and when I saw the port to plug in the antena, I figuired it did. But under "airport cards" it has "no info specified" This thing might not have even had one.

I'm having this same problem. I'm sure the Airport Extreme card is installed...why else would they give you an antenna?

Did you ever get this figured out?

I'm pretty sure you'd have a card in there. I've yet to come across a MAC that didn't have an airport card. At least not in the newer models.

Try and read your manual, it should tell you if there's a way you need to activate the card.
