Finally!

Posted 20 January 2005 - 06:34 AM

So, I wake up this morning and look at my computer. It had a prompt asking me if I wanted to sign onto the wireless network "netware" or something. So I said yes, and I had broadband in my room. My room that until this day has only experienced 56k. I work on a T1 here at work and always became said to come home after classes to my dial up. But alas, my neighboors have gotten broadband and their house was set up on a wireless network, thank god. Atleast this is what I assume and I hope it stays this way! -Brendan

Why not do what I've done and find some cheap ass second router, throw it on a seperate subnet, and leave it open... since it's just an internet connection it protects your computers, but you can still connect to your own network to access your shit with the WPA encrypted router.

True. haha, ya I cannot believe it. I talked to me mum, they did not install, she said there was some company van outside that set it all up for them. With no security what-so-ever. Not even a friggin password to sign onto their network. Hilarious. Oh well, more for me.

True. Hell, I can just claim I didn't know anything, I thought it was picking up my computer's internet from the living room.

Great plan, right up to the point where they look at this site and realize your not an idiot.

The problem with playing the part of the village idiot is that you generally have to be...well an idiot

So the real plan should be...."My neighbor said I could"

And since they failed to secure their connection, benefit of the doubt goes to you...this time.

if they are not knowlegdible enough to secure their AP then they would really have no way of finding you, unless you are doing massive bittorrents and eating up thier bandwidth, then the ISP might alert them to it
