I've just figured out how to edit a previously posted post. But how can we delete previous posts?

Well, if you see a 'Delete' button next to the edit button, you can use that...it should be noted, however, that you cannot delete the first post of a thread, a safety measure, I believe, in case others have posted after you.

Why would you need to delete one? Of course, you could always do as you suggest, and edit to empty.
