ok heres the deal. my roommate is an IT. he knows his Macs very well, thats all he uses (Powerbook and soon a G5). One of the companies he is working for has a complete mac network. the problem they are having is this. when a user puts a file on the server it can be read and writen to for that user only, if anyone else goes to it, it becomes read only. he needs it to be once ANY user puts something on the server EVERYONE has full rights to it. any help appricated

since this is prolly unix like perms
the umask might be set wrong
which dictates the perms when a file is created.
They work backwards of chmod
its permssions you dont want the group to have
mine at work is
umask 036
Owner All perms
Group read+exc no write
All Exec only
a chmod of that would be chmod 741
I have no idea how to set that in OSX though
I set mine through my .bashrc,

ok cool thanks. he is going to look into that. he said he knows what it is, but dont know how to change it. you any good mac osx resource sites?
