Man that was a little harsh. I don’t tell people that cant Figure AOL out to go look it up their damn self. Linux is different. Doesn’t come with a manual and uses a completely different set of commands. Granted I bought Linux in a nutshell to answer some of the questions I had. But Gees come off your high horse and stop being a pompous ass.

In my opinion that is why Linux doesn’t catch on. Because everyone that knows about it is a jerk to those that don’t.

he is right, i didnt do any research, its not something to just jump onto, but i didnt do any research for 2 reasons 1, i didnt know where to look. and 2 i thought it would be a good idea to post in here right off the bat so it sorta creates a big resource data base of common useful stuff most new linux users would ask and what not. but i guess it was a bad idea.

ok i can see for that second reason. And for the first reason thats why I threw down some linkage. I wasnt trying to be a jerk, its just i've seen alot of linux newbies not start in the right direction, then end up cussing out linux a few weeks later and leaving it, because they were trying to do too much too soon, and they just werent getting it. I'll start adding some resources, and when I have some spare time, look into adding some tutorials. You just gotta take it slow, i dual booted for 1.5 years, playing with little bits and peices, before i decided to totally ditch windows, and havent looked back since.

no, i wasnt saying you were a dick, and i never cussed linux, even though i failed at it a number of times, but i keep going back, i sorta need to learn alittle more than the basics quicker than normal because my boss wants someone in our team (5 of us) to know linux so we can start some web hosting.

linux has pretty good NTFS read support, but write ... last time i checked you could only write to a file the same size it already is.

 That doesn't seem so pretty good to me.

i think adding the word user to the mount option coiumn, will allow users to mount that drive

ie. assuming /dev/hda1 is the windows partition

/dev/hda1 /mnt/windows auto ro,auto,user 0 0
