Quotes

So with the prospect of heading to California to intern, I think I may just sell my computer for money and to just get it off my hands. But the problem is, I'm not sure exactly how much I should ask for it. I think I could ask/get $800-$1000 for it, but I'd like to know what you all think.

Specs:
Soyo CX-5959OM case
Asus A7N8X-E Motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 2200+
256MB DDR 2700 (?) RAM
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy (MP3 version?)
ATI Radeon 9200 128MB DDR RAM
40GB Maxtor Harddrive
Lite-On 16x DVD-ROM
Lite-On 52x24x52 CD-RW
Floppy drive
Various fans (including two case fans and hdd fan)
Rounded IDE cables
Hitachi v700 17" Monitor
Speakers (Came with case)
Harman/Kardon Speakers (I might keep these)
Keyboard (came with case)
Mouse (MS Optical)
Webcam
Windows XP

As for the PSU, I'm not sure about that since it's a replacement. But I may just buy a new one if try to I sell it.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Maybe $600. Barebones xp2200's sell for $130ish these days. 40g hardrive, $30-$40, your video card- $90, ram -$20, DVD-rom and CD-RW driver, by light on, maybe $25-$30 a piece. I could build the computer for about well under $500 new, without the monitor. With monitor, I'd say you could rip somebody off at $600, but nowhere above that. Your $800-$1000 rage is way out there. I know it sucks, but prices and technology increase so quickly, I've been in the same situation before.

ps-I'd hold onto the H\K speakers if I were you.

edit: also, though all the extra fans, and rounded cables and stuff are cool, and I know the rounded cables cost a fortune when buying 3 of them, they add little or no value to resale. That also sucks.

That's why I was asking. :)

Yeah I can build that with no OS for less then 500 using newegg parts. - monitor

My guess would be to add up the cost of the parts and Legal OS add 50 bucks for a assembly fee and there is your base price to get talked down from. adjusting for used conditon as needed
