Wait, why do you have (2) 256m video cards capible of dual monitoring, when you only have one 17" monitor. It's seems a bit overkill. Well, even if you were running dual 30"'s, it's a bit over kill.

Because the Nforce 4 SLI chipset along with 2 SLI Capable graphics cards Bridge the 2 cards into effectively 1 clustered loadbalanced video card. Similar to the origional Graphics accelerators back in the day that were a add in to the video card that was in the PC.

So in effect it is a Dual Video Processor Card with a single pair of DVI Outputs and 512MB of video memory with loadbalancing.

And the reason for this is that work is giving me another 3grand for a home PC. Last time I bought a alienware area 51m laptop. I only have to stick around for another 2 years to keep it.

Oh and just as a matter of comparison Alienware wants $4052 for a similar system.

With shipping im spending just over $3000 and that is also buying a copy of xp pro (cause honkey went straight legit)

I was doing some looking and have decided to swapp the Zalman 400w Power supply for a 560w Thermaltake Xaser PSU And the case got switched to a thermaltake viking because it has a fan controller and no side window fan just 2 120mm fans one in front and one in back.

The Mobo requires a 24pin power connector and the SLI video cards with the Drives and gobs of memory really should have a minimum 450W

get a water-cooled case. i <3 my koolance. keeps my overclocked 2.8C (P4, OC to 3.4) cool to, well, at the moment its 21C. it depends on how hot or cold it is in my dorm room. and its sooper quiet.

and dont make get into a box war ;)

nice setup there, but i WOULD question the choice of an AMD...

Ehh Amd is all I have had good luck with. Past 2 P4's I have had had problems with heat (prescott's). I wanted Bleeding edge and Intel's 64 bit chip lags behind the regular athlon xp's.

Personal prefrence Nothing more nothing less.
