If you are just using it for everyday general use i'd go with something like Dell, HP, Acer, etc. But, if your looking for something that has high performance capabilities i would look into building your own. It would be cheaper than buying a high performance system already built.

I did think about building my own, but i figured it would be to tough.
And my budget lays around a 1000 euro's, which is $1400.

I would probably use it for everyday stuff, gaming and possible coding.

Edit: Oh and my parent's have just bought a 2nd house, so in that case a laptop would be more adviseable, and the same goes for my study. Im probably going for a Bachelor in ICT, and i think i need a laptop for that too.

Still the question remains: Should i be patient and live a lil longer with my crappy PC untill Win 7 comes out?

Hmm, no.
1. I hate the Mac's interface;
2. I've just talked to the father of a friend of mine, he told me to get a desktop, since i am still experimenting alot (Games Vid's Downloading etc..)

Also, to get some good Spec's in a laptop, you pay 2/3x the amount as a Desktop with the same Spec's

I think there is a similar thread in this forum which may help you. I'll try and find the link, though as it may be dug under all the new threads :P
