I want to install Red Hat Linux on my machine.
How big a partition should I create with Partition Magic?
I currently run Windowx XP Pro. Will Red Hat Detect it and accordingly create a Boot Loader?

A couple gigs should do you fine. Red Hat should detect existing partitions and free space. Just leave some empty space and the Red Hat installer should detect it and let you allocate it as ext3. You'll also need to mess w/ the boot loader if you want dual boot capability.
Why 9? Why not Fedora?

RH9 is no longer supported AFAIK. Fedora is community supported, though a bit more on the bleeding edge. Enterprise is nice and stable, but expensive.
