The first question that I'd have would be: are you trying to perform this in VBA or from an outside program? The next would be, if you're trying to do it from an outside program, which version of VB.net are you using? Are you even using VB.NET or are you using VB6?
With regard to how to perform this in VBA, I'd record a macro, and then go into the VB editor in MS Word to see what code was generated by the macro recorder. This will give you a starting point to learning about the objects for MS Word.
I learned a lot about Excel VBA by doing just that, and then by looking up the object types in the help system.
Hopefully this will give you some direction about what to look for.
