Linksys

Posted 05 May 2005 - 11:05 PM

I have a Linksys WMP54G wireless pci adapter for my puter. It have had both a Linksys and an SMC router and the card seems to have trouble with both. I used to drop my connection for just a few seconds and then re-connect right after that; not that big of a deal.

but recently, my card will just disconnects, and i either have to a.) repair the device to get it to reconnect (otherwise it says "no wireless networks in range") or B.) restart my computer.

I have called linksys several times about the issue and i get one of two answers: a.) it's smc's fault, or B.) do a system restore. Both answers seem unacceptable to me.

has anyone had the same problem with this card?

argh, i got fed up with linksys and purchased an SMC card to go along with my SMC router, hoping this would eliminate the problem. Wrong, I was still having problems.

Then my brother recommended i change out the pci slot. OFCOURSE! the pci slot had some black icky not cool stuff in it, so i assumed that was definately not a good slot. Moved the card down one slot, pow, problem solved, thanks anyways.
