You wouldn't necessarily have to learn to read music... tab is a good way of communicating music without notation (numbers instead), or you can just figure things out yourself, assuming you have a good ear.

My brothers buddy who's over here 24/7 can do that, he'll listen to like Clapton or Santana once or twice and sit there and just replicate the songs...it's crazy.

Mostly they just show me things a few times and I'll be able to do it from memory...but the only reason I can read the sheet music is because I allready learned what it all meant ages ago. And tab is a good way to go, not as confusing and easier to relate to for most people.

Bummer you broke a string...what kind of amp is it?
The hippy at the music shop talked my brother into buying another one when he went in there to get some new bolts for his pedals on his drums.

Well the thing with replicating Clapton or Santana like that is that more often than not, both of these gentlemen throw a lot of blues licks into the mix, common licks, so if you have a feel for either of their style (ie Clapton's crazy bends), some of their signature phrasing, a background in improvising and/or a decent lick vocabulary, then that shouldn't be impossible. The licks are just like words, and if you know what words he's specifically using, you can quickly repeat it. Of course, lord knows I'm not at that level.

Very true...I find it strange though that he's yet to be able to sucessfully play anything that Stevie Ray Vaughn had done. If I could be able to replicate somebody's work I'd want to be able to play anything Vaughn did...he's like my all-time idol when it comes to guitarists.

Stevie Ray Vaughan is one of my main influences... what I would have given to be able to see him play live. That's weird that this guy can't play the Stevie pieces though... Stevie was heavily influenced by Albert King and Hendrix, so perhaps if this guy can pick apart Hendrix and King, he can get to Stevie.

1. I just bought a Yamaha P60 digital piano, which is beautiful.

2. My desk is never clean... if I take the time to clean it off, it is cluttered within a few hours.

3. My feet are constantly sweating.
