Webcam not working!?!?

It's plugged in to my computer and it said I had to install it, but when I press the button to bring up the window thing it doesn't do anything. Any idea what the problem could be or do I have to open it from a windows icon or something?

did you install the software? A lot of webcams come with an install disk.

Well, I had it plugged in and working but I took it out to see if it worked on my Xbox, which it didn't, then I plugged it back in to the USB port on the computer and doesn't come up with anything. I can't remember if I used an install disc.
