hello everyone,
i am facing a little problem and kindly, i need your help.
i am using internet through a blue coat system which is a proxy server on my network.
everything is ok, but when i want to connect to a ftp server, to download something, it is giving me this error:
"ftp listing of root [name of the server]"
of course i am doing this over the internet.
i am thinking that there is something inside the blue coat system, which is corructing or denying the connection.
i went through the blue coat and i tried to remove any block for the ftp.
but still nothing.
i am sure that the problem is coming from the proxy server. because when i remove it, the ftp work very well.
kindly can you help me in this. any idea about what should we do in this.
very thanks in advance

I am thinking it is not an error since it is just telling you that it is listing root on your server. You may want to take a look at the type of ftp connection (active/passive). It may be trying to establish a passive mode when you need an active one (firewalls etc sometimes don't let passive through and it needs to be active). You can use a policy to force an active connection from the proxy to the server.
That would be my first shot.

hello martyr2,
thank you very much for your kind answer. i appreciate it.
i tried this matter of active/passive before, but it is not working. no good result.
i am thinking maybe i have to add a rule inside the blue coat, saying that allow to pass this specific ftp server IP address.
still i am searching to find how can i add a rule inside the blue coat proxy.
the option is not showing, maybe it is hiding somewhere. i have to find it, and i have to try to add a rule allowing a specific IP address to go outside the network, and connect over the internet.
any help about this issue, i will appreciated a lot.
thanks a lot & regards,
