A while ago, our main desktop broke down. After opening it up I found the fan had come off and the graphics card was overheating. It looks like it was attached by plastic bits that melted off.
We can't get the warranty because my dad lost the proof of purchase. I don't think there is any actual damage to the card.
Anyone know the best way to connect the fan? It'd be nice to get the card working again, but I'm not sure what could withstand the high heat.

Unless you can reattach the fan I do not believe the card is usable (If that is wrong I'm sure someone will let me know), so you would have to purchase a new one

Pictures or at least knowing what card it is might help.
You could probably get away with mixing a little super glue and thermal paste, and sticking it back on. I have a GeForce FX5200 with a Pentium heatsink + fan glued onto it, been working fine for years.
On the other hand this might be a good opportunity to invest in a new graphics card, fans don't usually "melt off"...

It's a fairly new Nvidia graphics card. I do not know what model specifically, we purchased it in January with the new computer.
I might try the super glue and thermal paste and see if that works. It may not have melted all the way but it looked like it contributed. I'll see if I can get pictures of both the card and the bits.
