If it wasn't an AMD/ATI system, something around the same spec would be pretty sweet :)

Although the hard disks are a little low capacity arn't they?? I guess it depends on how much crap you store but I'm struggling with 500GB ATM :D

Whats wrong with AMD, those AMD Phenom II X4 processors are excellent. Admittedly they aren't as impressive as a core i7 but for the price they perform really well.

Your right about the hard drives though, I'm struggling with my 400gb.

Possibly, I've just not had a good experience with (nor frequently read about a good experience with) AMD Procs or ATI Graphics cards. Even when I do find good reviews they're still not as impressive as Intel/NVidia combinations. Plus I've known Nvidia's drivers to be much more "well built" than ATI's, the Catylyst Control Center does my freaking nut in!!

I guess it does come down to price, though. If you've got the dosh, find an Intel/NVidia system, if not then settle with AMD/ATI.

I have an AMD Phenom II X4 3.2Ghz 125Watt CPU and I just love it. It's the best CPU I've owned thus far (Will never own another Intel, what a POS in my experience)

I agree with rest 500gbs and no less. You're prices seem a little high check out http://www.newegg.com.

I still don't believe SLI really adds much to performance atm.

I bet you can get better around $800.

Its funny that you say that because those prices came from newegg...haha. and I do agree with the others, im not sure why i didnt have a larger raptor in there...the SSD is supposed to be that small..it would only be for OS purposes...but i do agree...as for the AMD/Intel Im not so biased...i've owned ATi and AMD stuff in the past and it was POS worthy.....but i've kept up and read and they seem to be having a little comeback. I like Intel/Nvidia (my current build is intel/nvidia) It did come down to what i could get for the $$

Agreed. The Catalyst Control Centre for ATI cards is a bit pants, and I just think that Intel make crap processors. From my experience, they don't seem to be as stable as the AMD ones.

whats with all the AMD hate? i personally prefer intel processors, but really....ATI completely raped and pillaged Nvidia this generation(thatas not to say the geforces are crap, but the radeons are definitely more consumer friendly). concerning drivers, nvidia for sure has the better ones, but ati's more than does the job. then again, i'm consistently confused by all the software problems people complain about all over the net.

are you kidding me? intel is a WHOLE generation of performance(at least half a generation, depending on how you look at it) ahead of AMD at this point. thats a HUGE differential.

ps, very nice rig in the OP, but both the SSD and harddrive still seems small :/. 16GB feels like a VERY tight fit for the OS and the pagefile(at least, that is where i would put it).

I used both AMD and Intel processors and I can say that Intel is a bit more expensive, but in some cases it produces less heat. AMD processors are cheaper, but they need a decent cooling system.

Overall, this is a nice configuration.

you're right...SLI doesn't add much to performance. in fact, it adds absolutely nothing ;) although it might be because Radeons use Crossfire :P ;)

but ya, from what ive heard others say, SLI offers more support for more games than Crossfire.
