Edit Snippets and Tutorials

Posted 23 August 2009 - 03:44 PM

If you submit a snippetafter you hit ok and it shows you what it looks like, you should be able to go back and edit it incase you screwed-up. I know that there is a Modify button, but you can't save those changes until it is approved. I think this would save the people who approve/disapprove them a lot of trouble because I have noticed errors in all of the Snippets AFTER hitting ok, even though i went through it twice to make sure I didn't screw anything up

This is actually a feature that protects snippets from modifications, that could directly affect it's functionality or show code, that could be either not working or potentially malicious.

This is why the moderating team has to approve every modification.

The best practice for submitting tutorials and snippets would be to write them off line in any text editor, save them to your hard drive and copy and paste them. For tutorials, if your tutorial is not approved we usually send you a PM with the reason why and a copy of the tutorial, wrapped in code tags to preserve it, in case you haven't saved the tutorial on your computer. We could also send you a PM with the code of the snippet as well in case you haven't save a copy of the code.

Core beat me to it.

I would have to say that you should be 110% that you code compiles and runs before submitting it, that would solve your problem right there :)
