We are seeking a Full-Time ONSITE Rock Star C/C++Developers for our HQ in Los Angeles, CA

SpaceX is revolutionizing access to space by developing a family of launch vehicles and spacecraft intended to increase the reliability and reduce the cost of both manned and unmanned space transportation, ultimately by a factor of ten. We are looking for Software Engineers to join our Avionics Group in support of these projects.

Selected candidates will join the SpaceX software team, developing flight control software for the Falcon 1 and Falcon 9 launch vehicles and the Dragon space capsule. The team is developing a highly modular space vehicle software suite, which includes vehicle housekeeping; mission event sequencing; guidance, navigation & control; rendezvous & docking; communications networking and fault detection, isolation & recovery. Successful applicants will take responsibility for developing, testing and deploying mission critical software as part of a close-knit team of exceptional software programmers.


Responsibilities:

Our Flight Software Group currently has opportunities developing software for embedded flight hardware using VxWorks as well as ground simulation software using Linux. We also have projects involving low level device driver development, communication protocol work, data integration with the International Space Station, guidance/control algorithm implementation, fault tolerance system design as well as development of vehicle simulation software.



Required Skills:

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field of study (PhD a plus)

• Several years of software development experience

• Extensive experience programming in C++

• Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux or VxWorks environments

• Experience programming for high reliability systems

• Experience writing software unit tests



Desired Skills:

• We prefer candidates who have a strong background in C++ embedded system programming

• Experience writing software with real-time systems requirements is also strongly preferred

• Some exposure to aerospace would be of value
