How to start with the database?

Posted 15 September 2009 - 01:12 PM

I've decided that I want to program something that will keep track of a large number of people, all of their information, and display it in a neat and professional format using the command window.

My question is what database library should I download?
I'm using VC++ express edition 2008 in case that is important.

I would go and just pick one but I don't know anything about database libraries so I just want to make sure I get the best one.

define large number?

How many users will there be at any given time? How much data are you looking at?

I guess I got a little ahead of myself

The number of people will most likely never be greater than 25 :D
I basically just want to know where to start/what library I should download to do basic database things to get an idea of how they actually work code wise and to see if I could tie it into anything I already know how to do

I would recomend using Sql Server Express especially if your using a Visual studio product as its built in. Otherwise your best Database would be MySQL.

In My instance SQL Server Express (2005) could not handle 25 people/concurrent connections.

Had to Get SQL Server Standard Edition (2005)
