I find myself extremely screwed because I bought a new computer when PCI-Express wasn't really known or used but newer and newer games' graphic requirements are beginning to be so demanding, soon I may have to get a PCI-Express card (rather than a brand new one on AGP). I was wondering if there's anyway to have a regular mobo accept a pci-e card with a decent outcome. I know this is a long shot, but my poor ass is desperate.

Im not sure a PCI Express video card would even work in a regular PCI slot, maybe other hardware but it seems like you would have a lot of problems...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I'm kind of screwed here. I don't want to be stuck with AGP for the rest of my life because I sure as hell cannot afford a new motherboard + video card, and that's just ridiculous since everything runs fine. Does anyone know of any adapters out there that would fulfill my needs?

Why do you want to upgrade so badly eLliDKraM ? Are the games your running right now performing sub-par or are you just worried about the future ?

if you bought the motherboard recently, you can sell it for a reasonable amount and turn that around and throw it at a motherboard that has PCI-E, but i'd wait.
Because PCI-E is really new, and by the time that your games demand the performance, something newer will be around.

Worried about the future, games are running JUST about par and I'm a 3D CAD designer which requires some serious graphic power as well. Present/future is my concern and the motherboard is at the point where I doubt I will get much for it. I just wish there were some type of substitutable device, whether it is a card itself or some sort of an adapter that would provide the power of a PCI-E without needing a PCI-E mobo.
EDIT:
I'm actually not going to pursue buying anything for a few months actually. Once cards double/triple the power of MY card and reach a price of less than $200, that's when I think about buying...
