I'm not a Zune user, but I was able to find this forum post that seems to suggest it might have something to do with any anti-virus software you're running: http://forums.zune.n...9/ShowPost.aspx

Hope that helps.

For what it's worth, I had no issues. I'm running the RTM build, and I installed 4.0 from the download link with no issues.

Well I downloaded the full package from here. run startzune.exe and am still getting the same error (I even tried installing with Nod32 disabled and still same error). I've got Windows 7 Ultimate RTM and this is starting to really piss me off now.

It gets to about 72% and then I get the error screen I showed in my first post

Any different if you get it here?

http://www.zune.net/...oad/default.htm
(selecting the appropriate version, of course).

@ xclite That's the first version I tried.

Here's what I have tried
  • Disabled Nod32
  • Disabled Windows Firewall
  • Disabled Windows Defender
  • Ran as administrator
  • Ran in Windows XP Compatibility mode

And nothing has worked.

For shits & giggles I did a reboot and the software installed with zero issues. While this is resolved I sure would like to know why I had to do a reboot in order to get it to install

Haven't you heard? Rebooting Windows solves 95% of all Windows issues. :)

For those having troubles. 80% of the time downloading the full package will fix this.

For 32 bit: http://www.microsoft...;displaylang=en

for 64 bit: http://www.zune.net/...oad/default.htm

Click the 64 bit link and it will link directly to the file.

I've had these problems before and downloading these and running as admin almost always works.
