new tv - msn broke

Posted 07 October 2009 - 12:30 PM

my dads just installed a new tv on the weekend and since then the broadband has been jacking up loads.

msn wont work either

ive had a look and the sky box is all prpoperly filtered etc and i removed one of the adsl plug for a minute and the broadband came back on and so i put the adsl filter back in and the light stayed blue

apart from 1 drop in broadband in the last 24 hours it has improved however msn still doesnt work, even though it does on a laptop downstairs

ill get my dad to buy some new adsl filters on the weekend to see if that fixes it but is there anythign else that i could do to fix it.
is there something about hd tvs that mess with bb (i shouldnt think it would as it isnt connected)

thanks in advance

You keep mentioning adsl so I'm guessing you don't have your TV and internet from cable?

If it is cable, then you could have a splitting problem.

ASDL uses the phoneline.
Are you using a router to share the connection?

well i dont know much about it but i think the phone line comes into the living room then gets filtered to the phone and filtered to the sky box, then we have wire less phones dotted around the house the other sky box and the router are plugged into the wall sockets but seeing as though i havent had to deal with this before i dont know wht sharing the connection means or a splitting problem etc.

could you explain them for me please?

I think you should have adsl filters on every icoming phone socket, before any splitters are attached.
