Well, this is a long weekend for Canadians as Monday is our Thanksgiving. We are going to have our dinner on Sunday as my room-mate's mom is coming so she can stay the night and head back home on Monday and not have to drive home on a full stomach.
Any Canadians here have any big plans for the weekend?

Did Canadians eat turkey with Pilgrims, too?

Not entirely sure if we ate turkey with pilgrims
but I guess it is a way to celebrate a successful harvest. Gets cold here fast in the Great White North eh.

I think mostly Canadians just celebrate being thankful that they are not Americans.

It's certainly tops on the list
...kidding of course.
And yeah, Canada's Thanksgiving has nothing to do with pilgrims or the US holiday (at least in it's origins). It was originlly done by a group of settlers to give thanks for being alive after crosssing the Atlantic, then was continued for bountiful harvests...first started here in the mid 1500's.
That being said, the actual holiday it has become essntially mimics the US holiday. This transformation began the 30's. Aside from date, there's no difference between them now. Turkey, football, booze, and a healthy ignorance of the true origins of the celebration
Happy Thanksgiving to Canadian members (unless you were born before 1957 when you probably remember this being on Nov 11
)

In actual fact, the preparation and consumption of turkey is not actually restricted to Thanksgiving by any legal means to my knowledge. I believe in a world where people may eat turkeys whenever they wish.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Tomorrow, I get to celebrate Columbus Day by having the day off. I'll think of you, too.
However, when I celebrate Columbus Day, I'm really secretly celebrating Leif Ericson Day, which was two days ago. Not sure how that works in, though.

Another holiday I feel I should take advantage of. Eat it on Oct 12 in Canada and then go back home in November. But since the family is pretty much non programmers, I will just stick it out in Canada and then get ready for Xmas.
