Sorry, Neo. It just slipped out. Honest! :)

Sir, Vista wasn't good enough for me, my user account became completely unusable because a code I wrote and ran, made many files in desktop. even after I deleted them in another account and deleted the listing file so that it regenerates it, still the same. That what I know of vista.

Okay, that happened while you were running Vista. Do you know it happened because of Vista? It sounds like something that could conceivably have happened in XP as well, depending on what exactly was done.

Please understand that I don't claim that Vista is perfect for everyone or that it's bug free (no OS is bug free--even Mac OS X Snow Leopard has been shown to have a serious bug). I have heard and read some darn good arguments for why Vista is not a great operating system. I just think that Vista gets blamed for a lot of things that aren't Vista's fault, and I grow tired of it.

There ought to be a law in regards to licensing.

There also ought to be a law that makes individuals pass a basic computer skills aptitude test before they are legally allowed to use one.

Yes I understand what you mean, I also get tired of people who just say "this is buggy or that is bad" and they don't know nothing about what they are.
I just wanted to say it was my luck with vista. B)

Edit: There ought to be a law to control software prices everywhere (here I haven't seen it yet)

Perhaps a corner cubicle? ;)

There should be a law that forces all my end users to RTFM before calling me every 5 fucking minutes.

You should be made to show your ECDL to be able to purchase a computer, like you would have to show your driving license to hire a vehicle

To make all programs that are so simple you could make in 2 minutes FREE! (There are a lot of programs like that out there: for instance)

plus, thanks to dear vista, when i disabled the ones that have the option, nothing changed :)

No offense but I'm so tired of the Vista caused this ... and Vista is [insert word here posts. If you don't like Vista then change it but by all means stop bitching about it :)

It's kind of hard not to be offensive if you tell people to "stop bitching". I love how "No offense" usually means "The following statement contains high amounts of offensive contents".

Vista is simply horrible. But I kind of owe it something. If it weren't for vista, I wouldn't have had the chance to give Linux a very good try. I would probably still be just a Windows game programmer. But now I can write a game for both platforms!

... But let us put Vista past ourselves. It was a dark era in computing, but the light of Windows 7 is coming (and it sounds like it wasn't botched since the Winter Beta).

But my complaint for the topic isn't Windows related. I'm not sure there should be a law against it but... I like Linux too. It just installs and runs fine on my computer. However, I'm really sick of people making me compile their programs if I just want to use it! It's called binary repository!! I'd only accept having to compile every single program I want to use if I was running Linux on something like an ARM processor or some other not-usually-meant-for-desktop-use processor.

That and there shouldn't be 8 different sound architectures and 4 different GUI architectures in the same operating system, it's annoying.

It think you need to do so more research on the history of the ARM CPU and Acorn Computers.
If have the opportunity watch programme The Micro Men available on the BBC IPlayer, which is covers the history. (Sinclar vs Acorn)

When Acorn designed the ARM it was for their next desktop machine, it was revolutionary.
I've seen an interview (if can find it I'll post a link) with one of the designers, in it he mentions that in one test the cpu was so low-power it ran without the power being connected to it. It drew it power from the protection diodes on the inputs.

Edit: The Steve Furber Interview

Yet all the computers you find at Best Buy have Intels or AMDs in them. I probably wasn't clear on that >.<". I'm talking about markets. People run x86 or x64s in their machines, and ARMs in their portable devices (DS, etc.)

ARM only has recently started to break into the netbook market with their upcoming stuff. But they have a hurdle because Microsoft doesn't have a version of Windows for ARM processors (that isn't CE) and they're trying to work something out. Windows has the market share stranglehold, so even though an ARM processor would be completely awesome for netbooks, you would only be able to run things like Linux on it. But I am actually rooting for them, because ultra small, cheap and low power 32-bit machines are ARM's territory and I think they have an advantage over Intel's ATOM series processors.

Lots of these people talk big. Let's see what actually comes out into shelves.

EDIT:
Though personally, I actually like programming for ARMs. It's my favorite processor to program assembly for even though I barely know how to do it. Being a programmer and all, I would love having a 2Ghz netbook with an actual video card that can run all day on a single charge.

OMG! You just taught me how truely ignorant I am. Teach me, Oh Great One! Teach me the ways of the computer geek! You should teach a computer history class or something. I would take it, because I have no idea what the hell you just said. XD
