That's why we compare it by using "per capita", that makes it fair no matter your population. Because it's a ratio.

No, it doesn't. Canada law is Canada law while firearms and weapons laws vary a great deal between california(more people than canada), Texas(almost as many people as canada), and NY(almost as many people as canada). California and NYC are very anti fire arm while any number of states such as TX, AZ, ND, MT, and so many others are pro fire arm. Our laws have great degrees of variation while yours do not. TX has as many people as Canada yet is extremely fire arm liberal while CA and NY are very firearm conservative and each have as many people as Canada.

I really think shooting someone would bring a lot of unwanted things in to your life, the least of which being the feeling of always watching your own back after you kill someones brother/cousin/friend/son/etc.

That's why after you shoot the intruder, you cut their fucking head off, & put it on a stake in your front yard.

Not only did the surviving family not come after me, I get a lot less religious fanatics, paper sales, kids wanting to mow my lawn, or pretty much any door traffic. It's kind of nice. Oh & the mail man stays off my lawn now too.

That's because any thread you post in gets deleted after a while, because we don't like to be reminded of you.

Thanks for ruining everything by coming back.

Same here.

We don't hunt, so no hunting rifles in this house (though I'm not opposed to them if that's what you want to do). No guns for protection, either. I don't think there is any way we could keep our autistic son from getting it, if we had one. He's very smart. But, thanks to the autism, he doesn't realize when things are dangerous. He would probably kill himself or one or more of the rest of us.

Besides, if we had one, the gun would be continually locked up somewhere, not loaded, with the key hidden. So if there was an intruder, would there even be time to find the key, unlock the gun, load it and go find the criminal? Instead we just have 2 big dogs. And we live in a low-crime area, so I'm not worried.

Nothing stupid about that question so you don't need to excuse yourself.
