Has anyone tested or have been looking at Windows XP Mode for Windows 7 users? I just installed it tonight and I'm installing the SP3 update for it right now. I'm going to try and install all the programs that are not running quite so easy on Win 7 right now.

Sure #2pencil here's a link. It's basically Windows XP on VirtualPC, but it's a free download from Microsoft. Pretty neat getting a free copy of XP.

I'm using the XP mode to run my Oracle Client and Toad since 64-bit support for 10g is virtually nill. It works like a champ as long as you have the recommended amount of memory (2G for Win 7 and another 512 for XP Mode). When I first set it up I only had 2G on my machine and the apps running in XP Mode were running out of memory. Now with 4G and everything runs like I would expect it to.
I love how I can open the XP Mode apps from Win 7 as if they were installed there. Very cool...

The software will only install with Windows 7 Professional. I have a client whom has some software from 94, & it failed to run with any of Windows 7 native attempts at running with backwards compatibility. Remembering this topic, I tried to download the XP Mode, but like I previously stated does not work with Home versions of Windows 7.
I'm going to give Virtual Box (by Sun) a try.

I did yesterday and it requires hardware virtualization on the processor which my compter did not have so it would not install. I loaded virtualbox, and it worked great, still experimenting with the limitations, but so far it is sweet!
