Now i'm just curious, if it is possible to get a virus placed into your BIOS. and if it is possible, would a clean install wipe it out, or would it be one of things that are just == bad news?

well, since the BIOS is a piece of software, it could technically be infected.
Clean installs of most Operating Systems usually don't even touch the bios. When you install an OS, it writes on the hard drive, and doesn't really mess with the mobo.
if your BIOS did get infected, it would be difficult to repair

Clean install of what? Installing the OS again won't do any good. Flashing the BIOS might, but it's risky and you might just be better off getting a new BIOS chip if you can (or a new motherboard).

My opinion on this would be that the BIOS is most likely the target. Though the virus spreads, if infecting the BIOS is the payload, then clearing the OS should still solve the issue. The reason that I say this is because I can't imagine a BIOS including enough code to also want to self replicate.
