According to dxdiag, my total approx memory for Display is 780 MB. Is this the same as graphics card memory? When I play 3D games like Prince of Persia, they run slow (not very slow). The frame rate is not up to the mark. Would buying a separate graphics card of 512 MB be helpful?

Depending on how old your graphics card is it may be say a DDR2 graphics card. Now you can get up to DDR5, so you even if it has less actual memory it may be much much faster memory and give you better performance anyways.
Could you post the model of graphics card you have.
Cheers

More detail please
But it is most likely dedicated graphics memory since you have a separate card.

Hello KYA!
Attached is the dxdiag output. I am presently using in built card only, not a separate one.

On board graphics are usually complete crap. You may have up to 780 MB allocated for it, but you may not be utilizing all of it. A dedicated GPU is always recommended in my book.
