Guess what I just did!

I just completed my first cross-country solo flight from Scottsdale (suburb of Phoenix) to Tucson and back!!

206 nautical miles in about 2.5 hours, in a 4-seat Cessna 172

That's nautical miles per hour - a bit different from miles per hour.

Maximum cruising speed is about 125 knots (144MPH), but I went about 110 knots through the air - about 126MPH. The 82.4 is my speed over the ground, which is slower because the air I was flying through was blowing against me (head-wind in the opposite direction), so the short answer is: 95MPH. ;)

Technically, the top speed is about 240MPH, but you're not really supposed to go that fast....
