It was recently announced that Microsoft's Cloud Platform is finally in the beta stage. And it's not just this that makes the announcement interesting. It was also mentioned that Azure will have its very own application marketplace for online apps hosted on Azure and datasets for building apps. The Azure marketplace is planned to be something similar to what Amazon.com currently is.

Interesting. The real appeal of Azure will be the developer tools, I think. That's Microsoft's consistent strength.
