Using OpenGL to make randomized stars

Hi!
i was doing a solar system on C++ with OpenGL and i wanted to know how to make it look nicer with some randomized flickering stars.

Would your simulation be from Earth our in space? If you are in space stars don't twinkle... that would be the atmosphere doing the twinkle trick.

well it's from space.
to give you a little overview, i've been working with OpenGL for only 2 months now, so i pretty much don't know how to draw the dots, let alone randomize them
