An advisor at my college sent me a link to a news broadcast. It's about how the FBI plans to hire a whole bunch of computer science/computer geek people.

I saw this a few weeks ago, their only hiring in select states ( no listings here in MN yet

It's not really that new, as the internet and computers have grown exponentially in our world so has the crime that appears in any sub-section of society. i know for a while i was looking into joining up myself.

Yeah I applied as I have a Military Clearance and a desire to have a law enforcement career they were like well this looks all nice and all but where did you get your degree. I was like I dont have a "degree" I have professional certificates in computer repair network security emergency medicine and emergency management. They were like that is nice but you dont have a 4 year degree.

Yeah See I figured it would be like that. Its funny becuase my family has been bugging me on an almost annoying level to try and apply for these FBI openings, and to see a well qualified person like you get turned down. I would be lucky if they even glanced at my resume before shreding it.

you have a degree? they dont care about anythign else. it shows the first step towards complacency everyone has a degree. there are no exceptions

Thats just my point, I have a CCNA certification, light public safety experience... but no 4 year degree.
I think they were tying to make it seem like " Oh we're hiring geeks off the streets, screw the piece of paper, if you have the smarts your in!" but honestly nothing has changed, their hiring the same people they did before.
