So I'm setting up a web sever using xampp. Cox (my ISP) blocks port 80. I want to use my computer so I can run intensive applications if I want to, for my own benefit. I went into my httpd.conf and changed:
ServerName localhost:80
TO
ServerName localhost:190
Then went to my router and forwarded 190 to my computer. 192.168.0.5
Restarted Apache and Mysql (Mysql just to make sure).
xx.xxx.xxx.xx:190 is timing out as well as without :190
localhost works and localhost:190 can't establish a connection.
Also I'm not sure if this is possible. My friend told me this and I remember thinking about it but I didn't think it would work. When setting up a Domain Name. If you put the IP address and the port in there would it connect to the IP using that port.
For example:
http://www.example.com == xx.xxx.xxx.xx:190
I'd also probably use dyndns due to my dynamic IP address.
Anyways thank you in advance,
Kris

ALSO
I added an exception on port 190 in the windows firewall which didn't seem to help.

So you are asking for assistance in breaking your ISP's terms of service agreement?
Call your ISP & get the proper service that allows port 80 traffic.
