I'm using Mandrake 10.1 and KDE and I have a problem... I can't figure out how to log in as the root user. (#su in terminal isn't cutting it...)
Besides that, I need to move a folder to /usr/local/ from my desktop- how do I do this? And I want to have Mandfrake load ndiswrapper at boot, and in the official installation insructions, it said to add the line 'ndiswrapper' to modprobe.preload (this is why #su isn't working...) When I try to open it in terminal under #su, it tells me I don't have permission to access it...
Thanks

It should be:l

I was just using plain '# su'... I tried adding '-' and '-l' to the end, and it still says "Permission denied" ><;

I havent touched mandrake very much but your su is acting weird

and post back what it shows

or
cp -R to copy folders

The user is not using Ubuntu, they are using Mandrake. And Ubuntu uses the Gnome desktop, although you can use a diferent desktop if you wish...or download Kubuntu, which defaults to KDE. You may be thinking of Knoppix.
