I am having a problem with a few of the users at my work using the dell T3400 desktop they are randomly rebooting. I checked the event log and found nothing. Things i have tried are disabled auto updates, disabled automatically restart on system failure(thought this would give me a blue screen or error message by disableing it but it does not). Found out that sysmantic has had trouble with this when i googled it I tried there solution which was updating the audio driver but no luck. Ran mem check and disk check and nothing. I wouldnt think that it would be the power supply concidering that there are multiple users having the same problem. I called dell but they said that they have not had any one complaining or issues of the T3400 randomly rebooting. Any ideas would be helpful im all out of ideas Thanks.

Take off the side of the case & look for bulging or popped capacitors.
If you don't see any on the board, try a working power supply. There are capacitors in there as well. It's easy enough to replace them on the board, but for the price of a power supply it's best to just throw it away & replace it.

ok i looked at the motherbord and i didnt see any capacitors that were bulging or poped capacitors. So i guess my next try will be to replace the powersupply. but since they are underwarrenty ill call dell and have them send me new ones out or they can come out and fix it for me but i think they will listen to me concidering that they are lazy.

I'm having similar problems. It's possible your units may have bad optical drives. Read the last part of this link: http://service1.syma...009070912494648
Try disconnecting the power cable going to the optical drives and disable them in the BIOS. If the rebooting stops then call Dell for replacements and insist that they send you different model#'s.

Actually, I believe this was the reason I was having reboots. My drive was Model# GSA-H73N. There was a Firmware upgrade available at the Dell support site. I flashed the drive to the new C109 BIOS and it has been running for 7-8 hours under stresss and no reboots.
