Getting 2 OSes on 1 system

Posted 18 February 2006 - 01:37 PM

Plz help me on this issue. I'm a n00b and don't know how i can get 2 OS running on 1 system. I have a partition in my HD. I already have WInXP installed. I want 2 get Linux SUse 9.3. Is that the best Linux or is Redhat or Mandrake better?

How can i get 2 OSes working?

PS:My HD is FAT32

You can take a look at this:
http://www.geocities...-w2k-HOWTO.html
or, you can create a new linux freindly partition (an ext partition, for example) and a small swap partition...most linux distros will recognize the partition and install accordingly.

Might I suggest for your first install that you try either ubuntu or knoppix? They both have user freindly installers for dual booting, and are debian distros.

Ubuntu
Knoppix

The two distros you've named are fantastic, for the most part...I'm simply suggesting that one of these two may be a little easier for the first install.

Ok thx guys. Your links were really useful. From what I've read,Ubuntu seems to be the hot fav. right now. Maybe i'll get both Ubuntu and SUSE and then decide which i want to use.
