Hello, all.

Recently, my girlfriend and I have been getting into buying(and watching) season DVDs of TV shows we like. We've bought a fair number of seasons, but have noticed that in a few cases, the DVDs will freeze while they're playing - and the DVD player will completely lock up. When we tried playing the same discs on my laptop(2nd most recent macbook pro), we had the same problem - you get to a certain scene, and then things just freeze.

I could understand this happening with our DVD player(because it's kind of a cheap one), but not with my laptop. If it helps at all, the DVDs we've noticed this with have come from Scrubs seasons 2 and 3, and ER season 1.

Has anyone ever had this happen to them before?
Does anyone know where I should go from here?

I had this issue with Family Guy. They will play the intro & the menu, but none of the episodes. However, the DVD drive on my laptop is shit, & I'm on my 2nd replacement, & it's starting to act up as well.

What DVD software are you running on your laptop? Have you tried multiple pieces of software? & because you are from Canada, I'll ask the silly question of which Region codes is the DVD & which ones are on your players.

Everything's Region 1.

On the laptop, I've tried running it using the included DVD Player app, along with VLC - neither of them can get past the parts that freeze.

I have that issue with some of my DVD's

Some DVDs will play in my xbox but not in the DVD player.
Some DVDs will play in my DVD player but not in the xbox.

But thats only with regular DVD's, all of the porn DVD's work fine.
