I have the net install (ver. 3.1) of Debian Sarge installed- but I can't get connected to the internet. I have tried two methods: Installing ndiswrapper from terminal, and hauling my desktop to the router and directly connecting it.
I have tried to install ndiswrapper from a floppy disc... but I keep getting stuck. This is what I did:
# mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 media/floppy
#tar -xzf /media/floppy/ndiswrapper-1.10.tar.gz
So then I CDed to ndiswrapper-1.10, and tried:
#make
BUT, I get the error "Make Command not Found". So now what?
So, I tried to directly connect to my router. Even though it uses DHCP (I think...) it couldn't find it. So what can I do about this if it would be easier than ndiswrapper?
A third option I thought of was burning a KDE CD and installing that, THEN loading ndiswrapper. But if I were to do that, I'de want the newest possible version of KDE, but I couldn't find any binaries for debian, even for 3.2 which supposidly ships with Sarge...
Anyway, thanks for any help you guys can give me.

did debian recognize your ethernet card?
When it boots and you can get to a root shell, run:
/sbin/ifconfig eth0
if it doesnt error and gives you info then you are ok, and may have to manually specify the network settings
