Connecting my Xbox360 to my wifi

Posted 14 January 2010 - 07:49 PM

My dsl router is connected to a wireless router down stairs. My xbox360 is upstairs without a wireless adapter. My laptop has wifi on it. Is there any way possible with Win 7 and the 10ft lan cable that it comes with to connect to my laptop that has wifi and have the xbox360 access it? I think it's highly unlikely, but if it is at all possible I would like to know.

thank you,

If this were Linux you could use a sloppy netcat command to pipe the data from one address to another. I'm not sure how you could do this on Windows.

Try this instructables tutorial. It's what I used, and it worked. (for a while) http://www.instructa...eless-Adapter-/

Also, I created a thread similar to this in the Networking and Wireless section a couple days ago. Maybe it'll help you out. http://www.dreaminco...topic148950.htm

I've always wanted to say this.

I'm in. Yes I did it. One of my own Sr. Developer friends said it wouldn't work, and I proved him wrong.

What and How I did it if anyone else needs to know.

Make sure your xbox is connected via PC. Then in Network and Sharing go to Wireless Network Connection.

Then go into Wireless Network Connection Properties and check the box that states the following "Allow other network users to connect to the internet through this computers internet connection"

A 5 minute fix with all of the elite hardware that was in the box when purchased and no need to spend money on a wifi adapter.

Use the tools that you have.

Yes it is. As a coder I get a sensational high of gigantic orgasmic proportions, and the feeling must be the same in the hardware / software repair business. I might take on IT computer repair up as a hobby. I have already fixed 2 computers this month with the help of my dad sending over 2 beaten down machines that the users thought would never come back to life again.

It's amazing how powerful and amazing you can become or perceive in the eyes of the ignorance when you have the knowledge.

Best Buy sets me up to look like a damn genius.

"Best Buy said it's the board & it'll cost $500 & I should just get a new laptop"
Total cost of repair $300

"Best Buy said the drive is dead, & all of the data is lost"
Oh, you mean this data?

But my favorite is when we fix someone's thumb drive. I actually had a customer call me crying because Best Buy told her the data was lost. A few hits from the solder gun, & 20 minutes to burn the DVD & she had her final back. Ready to be finished over the weekend.

Jesus, I always knew that Best Buy was useless.

Note to self: Never take a problem to Best Buy again. Always bug the crap out of no2, instead. :D

I can't stand best buy when it comes to their Geek Squad. I have all my friends and family memembers and their friends come to me with their tech support. I guarantee a cheaper deal and don't burn then $75/hr just to look at it.

I always made pretty good cash doing so, and being cheaper than BestBuy!
